The Espressomaster is a strategic design and engineering study showing the potential if Technivorm enters the world of premium consumer espresso machines. alongside their filter coffee machine range. The Dutch company is famously known for their iconic filter coffee maker, the Moccamaster. During the project, the Espressomaster concept was elaborated from initial design research to more realistic production proposals. A blend between imagination, strategic design and engineering. But above all, the most important question is: how to create a good tasting espresso?
The overall design
The Espressomaster is characterized by its visual simplicity and timelessness. The overall design philosophy was to create a durable, long-lasting machine with an iconic touch of Technivorm ‘stubbornness’. The goal is to create a design language with the right proportions and refined form and shape that are recognizable, yet realistic manufacturing wise.

It goes a long way to come to a good tasting espresso. Hard- and software, usabilty and craftmanship. The Espressomaster balances between good taste and usability for the consumer.

Prototype Engineering
The project of creating the Espressomaster reached beyond the visual appeal of the timelessness of Technivorm. The eventual goal of this project is to create a working prototype as well as a realistic visual model. Below are some production considerations. The Espressomaster consists of presumably of a brass alloy boiler, a fibration pump and a pressure controlled valve for steam. Furthermore, it consists of a 1 liter fixed water tank and no pressure profile options, only static profile.
